Details to Come…Progress being made…

This month we are reading Tom Beland‘s True Story: Swear to God. This is my pick and I am totally excited to be reading a fresh batch of pages from one of my favorite authors. This month we’re keeping with the romantic theme and meeting at Pier 54 in Tempe. What could be more lovely than to meet looking out over the lake. See you there!

Cover: I liked the cover a lot.
Art: The art was gorgeous. I found myself stopping during the story many times admiring the art and backgrounds. Even the citizens of Metropolis were interesting.
Story/Plot: Supergirl is dealing with a lot of pain after what happened to New Krypton. I thought the emotions conveyed were appropriate. It has been, I believe, a month since the big war happened. She has already shed her tears. I am happy to see her relationship with Lana is continuing. The scenes with Superwoman spark my interest and I wonder what will become of her. Gangbuster and Dr Light’s parts in the story were well done. I think the new direction will be good for Supergirl. I was not thrilled with who popped up at the end. AAARGH…oh well.
Characterization/Continuity: On characterization, I think Gates is capturing how I think an alien teenager who is trying to fit in would act. Very well done.
Best Part To Me: Supergirl’s dreams…they are so bleak.
Worst Part To Me: The reveal at the end.
Overall: I would strongly recommend this issue especially to those who were thinking of picking up this title as it is now a good jumping on point. I am sure others will enjoy the end of the book. I will not let that destroy my rating.
Mask of Tengu

Cover: I loved the cover! I saw Atrocitus and Dex-Tar and I it made me very happy.
Art: The scene where it showed the returned from Brightest Day was beautiful. Every page a masterpiece!
Plot/Characterization: Atrocitus and Dex-Tar visit New York. The scene where Dex-Tar comes out on the subway car makes me smile so big! Sinestro, Hal, and Carol contemplate the white lantern. While some of this transaction was seen before in Brightest Day, I still enjoyed this. And where these threw characters are led to is fun. The dynamic between them is excellent especially Sinestro’s retorts. A member of the Green Lantern Corps has a visit from a mysterious stranger and disaster comes. I also liked where the story is going involving the different energy being that we havent been shown really before unlike Ion and Parallax. The ending is what brought my rating down though…I hate the character that shows up and it kills me everytime I see his stupid face.
Best part: Any scene involving Dex-Tar was awesome!
Worst part: The end.
Overall: Besides the end, this was a very fun issue. I will be reading the next issue, but I am not looking forward to it as who I know will be there will ruin it for me.
